The great countertenor Franco Fagioli performs arias by Hasse, Vinci, Leo, Porpora, Pergolesi, Leo, Cafaro, Sarro and Manna with Il Pomo d'Oro and under the direction of Riccardo Minasi.
The Gaetano Majorano (1710-1783) became known under his stage name Caffarelli and Carestini was one of the greatest castrate stars of his time and had probably sung main roles at far more than 20 premieres of operas. Unlike the five-year-older Farinelli, who sang almost exclusively for the sad Spanish king Philip V, Caffarelli must have been a diva-lively capricious personality with an extravagant lifestyle that fully savoured his stardom.
Countertenor Franco Fagioli embarked on the tracks of this dazzling artist together with the ensemble Il Pomo D Oro and its leader Riccardo Minasi. In a technically brilliant and absolutely impressive recording, we hear arias by Johann Adolf Hasse as well as by Leonardo Vinci, Leonardo Leo, Nicola Porpora, Giambattista Pergolesi, Pasquale Cafaro, Domenico Sarro and Gennaro Manna. The CD in the book cover appears with an 80-page booklet with detailed texts in English and French.
The CD is accompanied by a 76 pages booklet.
